Reuters announced today the latest enhancements to the Reuters Connect marketplace, delivering new AI-powered discoverability features that enable faster integration of Reuters video into subscribers' workflows and editorial output.
The new technology will begin to provide Reuters News Agency customers the ability to quickly find key people and moments within Reuters video output enabling quicker discovery, editing and publishing.
The new AI features apply automated transcripts, translation and identification of public figures to Reuters video content on Reuters Connect, making discovery of content quicker and easier.
Reuters dedicated applied innovation team built these new features by finely tuning machine learning (ML) models to consistently produce the highest quality automated analysis of Reuters video.
"Our team of data scientists continuously research the latest AI technology to improve speed and efficiency for our customers. These new features harness the power of AI to save Reuters Connect users valuable time in getting Reuters content in front of their audiences," Head of Reuters News Agency, Sue Brooks said.
Users will find time-coded, speech-to-text transcripts organized in interactive scene lists, as well as the ability to translate multiple languages into English. In addition, the technology identifies and tags public figures within videos, so Reuters Connect users can quickly navigate to the scenes and people they are looking for.
A new live video-on-demand feature also enables subscribers to replay live events, check soundbites and create clips on in-progress and concluded live events. The enhancement allows for instant broadcasting of Reuters Live Video and the streamlined publishing of highlights and viral moments.
In addition to these AI applications, enhanced metadata now make it easier to search, discover and license Reuters content. Relevant stories can then be auto-published to chosen platforms, streamlining the production process and saving time for customers.
