Reuters launches new 'Trust in Reporting' scholarship at Hampton University, in partnership with the White House Correspondents' Association

Reuters, the world's leading provider of trusted news, insight and analysis, today announced the launch of a new scholarship at historically Black college Hampton University, in partnership with the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA). The Reuters/WHCA 'Trust in Reporting' scholarship is designed to increase diversity among journalists reporting on politics and will be awarded to a Hampton University journalism student, preferably with an interest in government or political reporting.

The recipient of the 'Trust in Reporting' scholarship will receive $7,000 towards tuition at Hampton University, as well as opportunities to participate in learning events with Reuters journalists from around the world. Reuters also funds a Reuters/WHCA 'Trust in Reporting' scholarship at Arizona State University, as well as a scholarship in partnership with the National Association of Black Journalists at Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications.

"Covering the diverse world in which we live requires more a diverse newsroom," said Alessandra Galloni, Reuters editor-in-chief. "We're delighted to extend the 'Trust in Reporting' scholarship to Hampton University to further this mission and to provide the next generation of journalists the opportunity to develop crucial skills both through formal education as well as hands-on training."

"We are excited to watch the careers of Hampton's WHCA scholars take flight, and grateful to Reuters for its partnership."
