Reuters to support Amazon Alexa with election results information for U.S. midterms

Date: 8 November 2022

Reuters announced today a collaboration with Amazon to deliver election results data to Alexa devices, for the U.S. midterm elections on November 8. Reuters will support answers to Alexa customer questions on the latest election results for the U.S. midterm races. The collaboration is part of a global elections partnership that has also provided  information to Alexa users for the Chile and Argentina elections in 2021 and 2022 elections in Brazil and Mexico.

Reuters will provide real-time U.S. election results from the National Election Pool (NEP), with research conducted by Edison Research. Customers will be able to ask Alexa questions such as, "Alexa, who's winning the governor election in Arizona?" and "Alexa, who's leading the Senate race in California?".

"It's critical to provide audiences worldwide with the most accurate and up-to-date elections data and information on a variety of platforms," said Melissa Rubinson, Reuters Senior Director of Strategic Accounts & Partnerships. "Partnering with Amazon Alexa to answer user questions on the 2022 midterms furthers this goal."

Reuters has a long history of covering U.S. elections, and is dedicated to providing fast, substantive and unbiased reporting from a diverse and experienced team of journalists. NEP's election results and exit polling adds to Reuters robust news offering on the critical 2022 midterm election races, including extensive multimedia coverage of the key races from on the ground and interactive graphics on the latest poll results, where voting has become more difficult and how the results could change abortion rights, all reported with accuracy, independence and freedom from bias.

The NEP, a consortium comprising ABC News, CBS News, CNN and NBC News, works with Edison Research to provide accurate and timely nationwide vote tabulation, exit polls, election projections and delegate estimates. The NEP is the only organization to supply national and state exit polls in the U.S., and they are the only source of projections and comprehensive analysis that includes the opinions of actual voters as they leave their early voter and election day polling places.
