Ahead of Media Literacy Week in October, Thomson Reuters and the National Association of Media Literacy Education (NAMLE) have partnered to launch a media literacy contest for students and classrooms, with winning individual entries receiving a mentorship with a Reuters journalist and classrooms entered into a drawing for a $500 grant.
At a time when society is increasingly polarized, this year's "Fact or Fiction" challenge asks students to share their thoughts on how media literacy education can help build a more unified society. Students are invited to share their thoughts via video submission and teachers are encouraged to leverage Thomson Reuters media literacy resources to present this as a learning opportunity in their classrooms.
The "Fact or Fiction" contest will run from September 1 - October 8 and is open to all Middle and High School students in the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec).
